Annie Get Your Gun And Your Protest Too!

If you look closely in the photo above you will notice a guy holding a sign saying "It's about shooting bad guys not deer." Both pro and anti gun sentiments were represented in the amusing and poignant signage in front of the city centers gun show today.

There were also people who had 26 angel signs in remembrance of those who were killed in Newtown, Conn. last month. I have attended the gun show once before as a rookie reporter in the summer of 2004 but this gun show will prove to have a record attendance. As you can see from the photo below there is a line of people waiting to get in the show and it was just after 1pm when the photo was taken. The gun show opened at 9am this morning. Some of the signs were clever and amusing. Notice the woman holding a sign that says, "I don't dial 911, my .357 is much quicker."

This kind of event is a reporters dream come true. I certainly respect the people protesting the gun show and the first amendment gives them the right to do that. Both pro and anti groups seemed to have no issue with one another while I was there but there was a major police presence there as well. Gun control is a hot button issue and is not going to go away anytime soon. Regardless of your position on this issue you should check it out for yourself. The show will remain open today until 5pm and will be open from 9am-3pm tomorrow.
