The Sky Is Falling:
My letter about male violence in this country was met with overt contempt and criticism by those who have failed to heed the warning. How much more evidence do we need as a nation to convince those who are either in denial or just completely ignorant that male violence must be curtailed.
I am not in favor of "Gun Control" because all that does is take guns away from those who are responsible and law abiding. (and the nutters still have guns) Not good.
This Adam Lanza kid along with the Kip Kinkle's of the world were known to be profoundly mentally ill.
We also need to stop the permissive parenting. Kids should not be in charge.
NO MENTALLY ILL people or felons should be allowed to have, own or be near a firearm. I am tired of the lunatic fringe running around the planet shooting up the place and then, not surprisingly they kill themselves because they can't own up to what they've done.
If we do not have a strategic plan in place for how schools are run then we should have armed guards at every school with a sign right in front with a disclaimer that reads something like this:
Anyone attempting to harm school children and employees of this school will be shot and killed on site.
How many school shootings would there be after that plan is in place?
ZERO.

Nope; sorry.
You are omitting the key fact that the person who bought the guns was - surprise! a female. A gun enthusiast, who, apparently did not secure the very weapons that ended up killing her and all those children. Had there been a reasonable gun control law in place, she would not have had a long-range rifle (which it has been determined was the key agent of the schoolchildren's killing) in her possession. There is no reasonable defense for possessing this kind of weapon.
The fact is that female violence is rising over time; an unhappy by-product of gender equality perhaps.
I don't think that this tragedy is any reason for you to pat yourself on the back; instead you should be addressing the fact that we need to change and evolve as a society, unshackled by the past of a 2nd amendment that clearly did not foresee today's conditions.

@arthur: Your point about who purchased the guns is sadly irrelevant. What difference does it make. However I do want to know why a divorced mother who lives large would need such an arsenal.
Also, interesting to note but of course not surprising is that mainstream media got all the initial details about the shootings
wrong. They said the mom worked at the school. She didn't. They said the shooters name was Ryan. It was Adam.
Mainstream media is increasingly irresponsible in their desperation to report something which brings me to my next point: I wasn't patting myself on the back by calling attention to more violent behavior committed by pampered suburban white-boys. I have been ringing the alarm for years. The majority keeps hitting the snooze
button.

The majority of extremely violent crime has always and still is committed by males. I don't know why you liberal types take it so personally. Just admit the facts. It's not difficult.
When girls and women commit these types of evil acts you are certainly welcome to write a blog post about it but quite frankly I don't think it will happen.
But I do predict more angry white boys who lack coping skills will be committing copy-cat crimes in the very near future.

No, Nancy it's not a moot point. Nor is the point that the person who purchased the guns that killed her; and all those children-- was a female 'gun enthusiast' - you are right to question why they needed an arsenal- the answer: she didn't. and she, along with several young people, paid the price for her 'enthusiasm.'
Many states disallow those convicted of domestic violence from owning ANY gun: are these laws that should be repealed? Your latest post would indicate that you think so. If so, i am sure there are many women who would like a moment of your time.
Despite the fact that you think that by declaring you 'will not entertain' a discussion about gun control and dismiss it as any part of a solution, i intend to dog you and tell you that it is. like it is all over the world-- except in the world in Fox News Nancy.
My position: Stop looking to scapegoat and inflame; start looking for solutions.
I doubt anyone, even anonymous, is going to think we are the same person now.
